Religion Within Glee
"Heart" is the episode where there was a debate amongst Christians in the shows and the viewers. Joe Hart is first introduced in this episode, a Christian teen who before joining McKinley High was home schooled, who is generally unaware about the pressures of public school. The God Squad is also introduced in this episode. The God Squad is a club dedicated to educating the student body about Christianity. The members include Quinn Fabray, Mercedes Jone, Sam Evans and Joe Hart and in effort to raise money, they offer singing telegrams for Valentine's Day.

When Santana Lopez asks them to sing to her girlfriend, Brittany Pierce, Joe does not know how he feels about it. Joe says he has never met a gay person and is not sure how to react to same-sex relationships because of his strong Chrisitan faith.
Even though the God Squad are believers of the Bible, they say it was written many, many years ago and that some things it says, like homosexuality, shouldn't apply anymore.
Joe decides that "love is love", agreeing to sing with the God Squad for Santana and Brittany at their local resturant, Breadstix. After they finish singing, Santana and Brittany share their first on screen kiss.
