Cory Monteith
May 11, 1982 - July 13, 2013

 

This is the first seaons of Glee that will not feature Cory Monteith who portrayed the character, Finn Hudson. Cory died shortly before production of the fifth season from an overdose. "The Quarterback" which is the third episode of Season 5, that pays tribute to the character and Cory, himself. After this episode aired on October 10, 2013 the show went on hiatus until Novemeber 7, 2013 to pay their repsects to their fellow cast member and friend. This episode which recieved positive feedback from critics has generated 7.40 million American viewers, alone.

 

 

 

 

Mr. Schuester invites old and new members of New Directions to sing a song that reminds them of Finn as a personal memorial. The current members and those who had returned starts off the show by sining "Seasons of Love" all dressed in black to pay tribute.

Mercedes Jones sang "I'll Stand By You" a song that Finn had previously sung, way back when he previously believed he was the father of Quinn's baby.

      

 

 

< Santana Lopez sang "If I Die Young" which she breaks down in the middle of and ran away into the hall, regretting not being nicer to Finn.

 

 

Sam Evans and Artie Abrams sang "Fire and Rain" that the group eventually joined in and helped finish. >

< Puck Puckerman sang "No Surrender" to honour his best friend.

  

Rachel Berry, who was Finn's girlfriend on and off throughout the series and real life girlfirend, makes her first appearance in the episode looking Finn's memorial. She performs the song "Make You Feel My Love".

 

The episode ends with Rachel giving Will a plaque she had made in Finn's memory that has a picture of Finn and a quote that he said "The show must go . . . all over the place . . . or something.". They hang it up in the choir room to honour Finn and Cory throughout the continuations of the series.
